Less crowded than the other nearby Ko islands (Ko Phi Pi…) There’s amazing scuba diving here, though less so in the off-season due to visibility and protected areas. It’s accessible by vehicle from the Krabi Airport, saving you the water taxi ride necessary for the other islands.

prepaid cell plans are really cheap. Get one in the airport on arrival, as they’ll be the most prepared to deal with tourists and passports.
take some lightweight pants (linen?) for temples- bare legs aren’t allowed
slip-off shoes are also good for temples
get an international driver’s license. Important for renting a scooter.
street food is generally the best. Prefer over restaurants.
shoes are considered filthy and often offensive. Be attentive when entering a building to see if other people are removing their shoes first. Also never tie shoes to the outside of the bag, where they could touch someone accidentally.
