Pucon 🌋

Pucon is the adventure capital of Chile, with rafting, canyoneering, hiking, and snow sports. It’s close to a number of fantastic hot springs, including the famous Thermas Geometricas.

TransAraucania has a booth at the airport. It’s $14.000 CLP per person.

Transportation transportation

National reserve with waterfalls, rivers, canyons, caves, museums, and hikes. There are several different entrances “portales” to different parks of the reserve, each with a fee between 3,000 and 5,000 pesos. You can also buy an armband that gives you access to everything for a few days. There’s so much to do here it’s worth staying in a hotel nearby to spend multiple days in the reserve.

Parks 💯 activity

Small town on a lake south of Pucon/Villarica. There are kayaks and paddle-boats for rent, short tours by boat, and a beautiful peninsula with hiking trails.

Beautiful park near Pucon with great hiking. There’s an easy trail that passes multiple lakes, and a difficult one that climbs a ridge to panoramic views of the mountains.

Entrance has to be pre-purchased on the park website.

National park with good hiking. The main trail goes to multiple small mountain lakes with great views. If the weather’s good, there’s a difficult high-altitude hike to a mountain peak with panoramic views.

Beautiful thermal hot springs. Good second choice if Termas Geometricas is full.

Beautiful volcanic hot springs in a narrow canyon, famous for the red walkways.

The various pools are labeled with a max capacity and the temperature of the water. The entry fee includes a lock + key to lock up your items in the lockers that are spread out in small changing rooms along the canyon.

I highly recommend purchasing tickets in advance, otherwise you may drive all the way here just to find out they’re sold out.

Hot Springs 💯 activity

Amazing volcano hike, best planned through an agency in Pucon. You hike up a volcano with amazing panoramic views. Afterwards you slide down the snow on sleds.
